1998-P 1 oz American Silver Eagle NGC PR69
As a continuation of the highly successful American Silver Eagle bullion coin program, coins were struck in 1998. Collectors and investors have made this one of the most desired bullion coins worldwide.
Like every other coin in this program, the 1998 American Silver Eagle coin contains One Troy Ounce of .999 Fine Silver. Buyers worldwide enjoy having an American coin in the One Troy Ounce Silver coin category.
The obverse is a faithful rendition of Adolph Weinman’s ‘Walking Liberty’ design, which was used on our circulating half dollar coinage which was struck between 1916 and 1947.
The reverse of the coin was designed by then-Chief Engraver at the US Mint, John Mercanti who depicted his version of the Heraldic Eagle design. This particular design was used on the Draped Bust, Large Eagle, series of Silver Dollars from 1798 to 1804. There is an eagle as the central image and it has upswept wings, arrows and olive branches in the talons, a shield covering the body and 13 stars arranged above the eagle. There is a banner in the eagle’s beak and on it is inscribed “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Around the periphery are the mottoes, ”UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,“ and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER - ONE DOLLAR.”
This 1998 American Silver Eagle has been graded as MS69 by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation, one of the major grading services in the world. The MS69 grade means it is one point shy of perfection.
