This coin is a beautiful 2004-W American Silver Eagle bullion coin. It has been graded as “Proof 70, Ultra Cameo,” by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). By 2004, the American Silver Eagle bullion coin was a perennial best-seller. Both coin collectors and investors bought millions of these coins. The program was and continues to be highly successful. Begun in 1986, the American Silver Eagle program made numerous wise decisions to ensure its success. One of their best decisions was to keep with tradition and use a design that would be welcomed. One of the most iconic of the classic US coin designs was created by Adolph Weinman, who designed the Mercury Dime design but also designed the highly acclaimed “Walking Liberty” half dollar design. It was adopted for the obverse of the American Silver Eagle bullion coin. The design faithfully copied the Weinman design.Miss Liberty walks to the left, with her right hand outstretched. She is adorned in flowing robes and an American flag. In her left arm, she cradles olive branches, and a radiant sun rises behind her. “LIBERTY” is on the upper periphery, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” is in the right field and the current date is below her.The reverse was designed by the ten-current Chief Engraver of the US Mint, John Mercanti. His design took its inspiration from a design of some of the early US Silver dollar coins. His Heraldic Eagle depicts an American Bald Eagle with a shield on its chest. Thirteen five-pointed stars are arranged above the eagle. In the eagle’s beak is a banner on which “E PLURIBUS UNUM is inscribed,” and in one talon are arrows and in the other is an olive branch. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR,” adorn the upper and lower peripheries, respectively. NGC’s grades indicate that the coin is virtually perfect, and the “Ultra Cameo” designation means that the coin has incredible contrast between the reflective mirrored fields and the frosted devices.Simply click the “Add to Cart” button now or call to speak to one of our highly trained numismatists, who will be very happy to assist you.
