2010 1 oz Silver Eagle NGC MS69
American Silver Eagle bullion coins are some of the world’s most popular and desirable bullion silver coins. Each coin contains One Troy Ounce of .999 Fine Silver. This program began in 1986 in response to other foreign nations’ efforts that were very successful.
Collectors, investors, and dealers alike all wanted to own these coins, or to buy and sell them. The pricing from the US Mint was reasonable, and the designs were beautiful.
The obverse design utilized the well-known and popular Walking Liberty design by Adolph Weinman. This design had been used on our half dollar coinage between 1916 and 1947.
An allegorical representation of Miss Liberty gracefully strides across the obverse of the coin, going to the viewer’s left. She is wearing flowing robes all around her as well as having an American flag draped across both of her shoulders. Her right hand is extended forward, while her left arm clutches bundles of olive branches. The date the coin was struck is displayed on the lower periphery, underneath Miss Liberty. On the upper periphery is the word “LIBERTY,” while in the right open field is the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST.”
The reverse uses US Mint Chief-Engraver John Mercanti’s Heraldic Eagle design. This design depicts a large American bald eagle that has its wings outstretched and pointing upwards. The body of the eagle is protected by a shield. The eagle’s talons are filled with implements of war and peace. One talon is clutching arrows, while the other is holding an olive branch.
Above the eagle are 13 five-pointed stars, representing the thirteen original colonies. Adorning the upper periphery are the words “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” On the lower periphery are the words “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.”
This coin has been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) and the insert displays the MS69 grade. NGC grades, authenticates, and encapsulates coins and their grading is widely accepted. The MS69 grade means that this coin is only one point away from perfection.
NGC is one of the major independent coin grading services and their consistent and accurate grading make NGC coins highly desirable in the numismatic marketplace.
