The American Silver Eagle bullion coin program launched both types of coins - Uncirculated and Proof silver eagle bullion coins - back in 1986. The coins are widely collected and extremely popular with collectors and investors. The Mint struck these coins both in Mint State (Uncirculated) and Proof conditions. The Proof coins saw a meager mintage of 440,596 while the Uncirculated version had a much larger mintage of 18,065,500 coins struck. The obverse of the American Silver Eagle bullion coin uses the extremely popular ‘Walking Liberty’ design that was first used on circulating half dollars between 1916 and 1947. This series was designed by Adolph Weinman, and the design remained popular through the decades. The design depicts an image of Miss Liberty, attired in flowing robes, and walking to the left. Her right hand and arm are outstretched while in her left arm she is cradling olive branches. The word “LIBERTY,” is on the top of the obverse, while on the bottom of the obverse is the date of striking. On the empty right fields, inscribed is “IN GOD WE TRUST.” The reverse design displays a Heraldic Eagle, with wings outstretched, and a shield covering its body. Above the eagle are 13 arranged five-pointed stars. She has a banner in her mouth on which is inscribed “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” On the upper periphery is “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and on the lower periphery is “1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.”This coin is a 2017-W American Silver Eagle in Proof condition. It has been graded as “Proof 69, Ultra Cameo,” by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). This company, NGC, is one of the most respected third-party, independent coin grading services around the world. The ’69 grade’ means it is one point away from perfection while the ‘Ultra Cameo,’ designation means that there is significant contrast on the reverse between the mirrored fields and the frosted devices.Simply click the “Add to Cart” button now or call 1-866-827-4314 to speak to one of our highly trained numismatists, who will be very happy to assist you.
