The American Silver Eagle bullion coin program was well established and widely collected by 2022. Having begun in 1986, this member of the US Mint’s product line has been an unquestioned success. The obverse design has remained unchanged throughout the entire series. In fact, it is a reuse of a successful earlier design by Adolph Weinman. It was used by the Mint on the Walking Liberty Series of half dollar coins between 1916 and 1947. The design incorporates an image of Miss Liberty, walking to the left, a rising sun with rays emanating, behind her. She is clothed in flowing robes and an American Flag. Her right hand is outstretched in friendship. In her left, she cradles bunches of oak branches. Above her is the word, “LIBERTY,” in the open right field is the motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the current date is below. The reverse design is new, having changed mid-way through the minting year in 2021. Designed by artist Emily Damstra, it depicts a majestic American bald eagle in flight, seemingly about to land. Clutched in her talons is an oak branch. The mottoes “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 oz. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR,” are around the outer periphery. There is also a smaller motto ,”E PLURIBUS UNUM,” depicted there as well. This listing is for a 2022-W American Silver Eagle, the “W” mintmark designating minting by the West Point minting facility. It is graded as “Proof 70, Ultra Cameo” by Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). NGC is one of the major, independent, third-party grading services that authenticates, grades, and encapsulates coins. Their grading is very well respected worldwide. The grade “Proof 70” means that the condition is perfect, without any obvious imperfections. The designation “Ultra Cameo,” means that this coin exhibits highly reflective mirrored fields and contrasting frosted devices. Only a small percentage of all proof coins received that designation.Simply click the “Add to Cart” button now or call to speak to one of our highly trained numismatists, who will be very happy to assist you.
